FAMILY AT TULLUT IN SEL MUNICIPALITY
(VÅGÅ AND SEL PARISH)
THOSE WHO LEFT THE COMMUNITY FOR SKÅBU IN NORTH-FRON, FRON MUNICIPALITY AND FOR THE UNITED STATES
Recently I received an overview of additional members of the family born at Tullut - a croft (tenant farm) with land and a summer cabin with grazing land in the mountains – under Solhjem farm.
The family members mentioned below are the oldest I have found – so far – the new additions are two aunts and an uncle to the three siblings I have written about in «The Pedersen and Paulsen families» – the brothers Peder and Paul Olsen and their descendants and their sister Rønnog and her descendants. A link is on my webpage (on the left side directly below «Ancestral Details»).

The earliest ancestors living at Tullut were:
1.Generation:
OLE Pedersen and MARIT Pedersdatter married March 7, 1756.
They died before 1801 (cencus) and we can assume they must have lived at Tullut before that time.
THEIR CHILDREN ARE:
2.Generation:
PEDER Olsen born March 26, 1761 baptized in Sel church – d.July 10 1825 at Tullut at age 64, married to
ANNE Iversdatter born 1758 – d. May 24 1823 at age 63
(It cannot be detected that she is born in Vågå/Sel parish. Neither can it be found that Per (Peder) and Anne were married there.)
Kari Olsdatter b. March 6,1757. Married to Svein Mortensen, lived at Røønningen under Solhjem in 1801. This strengthens the theory that Peder and Anne lived at Tullut. No additional information.

YMBJØR, MARI AND IVER – WHO MOVED TO SKÅBU, THOSE WHO STAYED IN SKÅBU AND THOSE WHO LATER MOVED TO THE UNITED STATES.
This information has been gathered by Gunnvor Brekke, born in Skåbu, but has not come to my attention until now in 2013/2014. It is amazing to find that we still have large families in Gudbrandsdalen and not only in Northern Norway and the USA.
YMBJØR (Embjør) Pedersdatter, Tullut
came to Skåbu as a weaver when she was a young girl. She married the farm boy Torger Erlandsen, Øvre Skåbu (Upper Skåbu). They worked the farm. (Source: Gårdsbok for Fron, s. 370–71). ”It has been said that Ymbjør was a capable farmer′s wife, and filled her position well at Øvre Skåbu”. (Source: letters from Torger Risdal.) Through their son Erland, the same family has run the farm up until today with three generations of daughters following:
The taperstry is woven as a double sided flensweave, and is called "Linked hearts". The pattern is reconstructed from an old "rag" used as insulation around a window that was changed in a house in north Risdal. No one knows who made the original but this tapestry is woven by Gunnvor S. Brække
Midre Risdal (Vinsterlia). Johannes Søre Risdal born 1865, married to Karen Erlandsdotter Skabo born 1863, he inherited the old house (gammelstugua) which was left on the place where the farm Risdalsgarden was located. He rebuilt this house close by the local road and opened a country store and a postal station. Later on he increased the size of the house and started a boarding house
This is the old farm Kappelslåen, which is located further downwards in the direction of Olstappen. The place was left about 1950, and the family cleared land and made a new cotter's farm Karistugu (old cotter's farm under Kappelslåen)
Embjør Erlandsdatter m. Renaldo StensrudElline Renaldosdatter m. Petter Fosse. (His mother. Berte Persdatter Kappelslåen was the daughter of Iver′s son. Iver was Ymbjør′s brother.)
Borhild Pettersdatter m. Knut Brenden.
”Øvre Skåbu was damaged by Ofsen (the great land slide) in 1789. Of the field measuring 24 mål (5.9 acres) 6 mål (1.5 acres) were completely destroyed. Of the meadow measuring 24 mål, 6 mål is completely destroyed., One haybarn and parts of the millhouse were lost.

MARI Pedersdatter Tullut
(Solhjemeiet) b. 1789 – d.1862 at Skåbu.
Married 1824 in Kvikne-Fron to Hans Olsen Lien b. aprox.1794 in Skåbu.
(Hans: Emigrated from Nord-Fron parish 1851–1883. Should have emigrated to the USA May 14,1854, but was refused exit when he was charged with illegal logging, he did not depart. He departed at a later date, but has not been possible to locate in the USA.
See attached link to Mari’s descendants. The family took the name Nystuen after they emigrated to the USA.
IVER PEDERSEN TULLUT
b. 1803. He is mentioned in old papers as Iver Tullut and Iver Solhjem. He was widowed early, not only once, but twice.
After his third marriage he emigrated with his entire family to the USA in 1870.
The oldest son PER(PEDER) was married into KAPPELSLÅEN, and has many descendants in Fron. Kappelslåen is a croft (tenant farm) under Olstappen in 1723.
